Healthy and delicious Bliss Ball recipe for pregnant or lactating Mama’s

We all know the feeling of a growing baby in your stomach or a cluster feeding newborn on your breast and despite staring into the pantry like a zombie for a solid five minutes you can not find ANYTHING satisfying to eat.

I have done this a few hundred times before coming up with an easy solution that was both filling and delicious (and super quick). All you need is a handful of ingredients and a food processor (I use my Thermomix) to make these balls, then pop them in the fridge/freezer to grab a quick snack whenever you need!

You can change this recipe up as much as you like – just stick to the general guidelines:

Makes approx. 12 balls

1 cup Medjool dates, pitted (about 8 large dates)

1 cup nuts (My favourites are peanut, cashew, macadamia and hazelnut)

1 tbsp honey or rice malt syrup

1 tbsp date or maple syrup

1/4 tsp vanilla extract

Optional add in’s: Chocolate, fruit rind, dried fruits, chia, hemp seeds, raw cacao or your favourite essential oil/extract. The options are endless!

Pop all ingredients into your processor and mix. I put my Thermo onto speed 6 and process for approx. 30 seconds. I like to leave the nuts roughly chopped but you can process to whatever consistency you like.

The mixture should be coming away from the edge of the bowl – if not just add a splash of water to moisten. If too wet then add some more nuts, cocoa powder or desiccated coconut.

Grab a tablespoon of mixture, roll into a ball then cover in desiccated or shredded coconut. Place in an air tight container and allow to firm in the fridge or freezer then enjoy!
